When the Make and Multiply Initiative came, I knew that I wanted to give. I have been a tither since my college days – which was quite a while ago – and have seen the Lord work in dramatic ways in response to my giving. Once he even had money fall from the sky for me – no joke!
The amount I should give to the Initiative came to mind quickly and I figured I would have to sacrifice a vacation this year in order to give. It wasn’t easy, but I knew it was the right thing to do.
At the same time, there was a contest going on at work. It started in December 2017 and ran for 16 weeks. The goal was to increase our sales over the same timeframe last year. In each region of the country the top 2 salespeople would win. When the first scorecard came out in February, I was in 5th place on my team. I mentioned to the Lord that it would be really nice if I won, but it didn’t seem possible “in the natural.”
When the second scorecard came out in March, I was jockeying between 2nd and 3rd place. “No way!” I thought. On April 23rd the winners were announced, and I had come in 1st place for my region!!! All the credit goes to the Lord! He is the one who orchestrated this win.
Did I mention that the prize was an all-expense paid trip to a really beautiful, upscale resort on the coast of Southern California…He is SO, SO GOOD!!! The verse that comes to mind is Luke 6:38 “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” This trip will be nicer than any I could have or would have planned for myself if I held onto the money. And honestly, I feel like He poured it into my lap.
I am SO thankful that we get to serve a God who is supernatural! Nothing is impossible for Him. I have learned over the years that He is an extravagant Father and loves to surprise His kids with good gifts.
